Perfectly illustrated! I have butterflies in one part of my creative life (knitting and cooking) and a worrisome pupae in the making art part. I have learned to just take some workshops in the quiet times and I know the butterflies will return, but it still is worrying

That's such a good point that you can be in different places for different projects! Sometimes I find the butterflies can cross from one area into another, the knitting and cooking ones might bring something new to the art and vice versa. Taking workshops is such a brilliant way to give yourself a boost too!

If this was a print showing the flow between the phases - I would buy it. to feel reconnised but also to remind me to 'get up again' as new ideas will emerge. It is so lovely

Ahhh, thank you Majken! I hadn't thought about making it a print 🤔

Yes, the getting up again part is so important, I have to keep reminding myself! 😆

Some days I feel like I can maintain phase 4 for weeks on end and some days it feels like I'm slamming between 5 and 6 repeatedly haha

Gorgeous illustrations! I go from one phase to another so quickly it's hard to pin one of these down so instead I'll tell you the phase I enjoy the most which are 3 and 4. Although 5 looks amazing I know it's ususally short lived!

It's amazing how quickly you can cycle through them! 5 does always seem to be over too quickly - but 6 seems to go on for ages (for me, anyway) 😆

That cycle looks so familiar! Love the way you illustrate it. I always wish for all the butterflies to come back. The fear they’ve left forever is always there!

I know exactly what you mean! I'm always scared the butterflies have gone forever, but they always come back eventually!

Cost caterpillar forming wings. A bout with Covid has put me into reset mode. Rethinking everything I thought I had planned.

Oh Suzanna, take care of yourself! Covid can really wipe out all your energy, especially creative energy! I'm sure you'll be bursting out of your cocoon soon 💕

This is such a good visual description of the process, I’m stuttering between flight and cocoon atm! A real up and down, stop/start process which means I’m having a breakthrough (I think) …

Ooooh yes, breakthrough on it's way! It's just a matter of getting through that rollercoaster run up, isn't it? 🎢 🦋 💕

This is lovely Nanette! Love that butterfly at the end! It’s so irresistible to get up again, despite knowing we should rest! X

Yes! Rest is an important part! Even though when I'm resting it feels like laziness or procrastination - it's important for refilling the well!
