Love anything about organization, and this was fabulous! Also, love the word “arse!”

Organising is so satisfying isn’t it?! I do like seeing perfectly organised spaces on Pinterest or the Ikea catalogue, then look up and see my own space ... 🙈

1. This is so smart! From the special Tupperware to the materials photos.

2. I really enjoy your posts and your writing (speaking) voice you use for them.

Ahhh, thank you so much Nino! Yes, the Tupperware system is a real life saver when things are chaotic!

Arse is good! Bum is clunky but I find it really funny too.

To be honest, I feel like anything to do with a butt is funny. But I know it's so touchy when people see you as a children's author. I know the struggle

Big hugs!!

Yes! Butt's are always hilarious! And they are always hilarious to kids too! But sometimes we have to remember to act like an adult - boo! xx

I love this! I'm never this organised! I have angrily mumbled "wow, that's SO not the right colour" more times than I can count. Making swatches of all my art supplies to keep them together in a binder is a project I have recently embarked on.

Oh yes, the “that’s not the right colour” moment is SO frustrating!

Oh I love your Special Tupperware combined with your Special Photo of Materials! Very handy! Thanks for sharing :)

P.S. I'm okay with arse in your writings haha.

Thanks Melissa-Jane! Naming the various items is part of the fun!

Ooh great ideas Nanette! I’m going to take photos now too- when I’m working digitally I’ve learned to make digital pencil cases with all the brushes I used and the name of the project on. Also this made me laugh out loud ‘cos I’ve just uncharacteristically finished a 30 min hit routine too and expect the worse 😅

Digital pencil cases!! That is next level! Such a great idea, I rely on only only using about three brushes out my extensive collection of Kyle Webster’s! Good luck with your hit workout recovery 🏋️‍♀️

I like be the idea of the Special Tupperware! I am awe of your organisational prowess!

It’s a slightly slap dash organisational system but it does the trick! I’ve often wondered how you keep your collage papers organised when there’s so many colour and texture variations

I have used a few takeaway tubs for my most recent project - but now it’s over all the scraps are doomed to disorganisation again!

Thank you for sharing your brilliant system, Nanette! And that neck-cercize video looks helpful too. I’m bookmarking it. 10 minutes of stretching on a yoga mat after a lot of sitting makes a world of difference for me!

Love a good stretch after a day’s drawing! I’ve only just discovered the joy of stretching, great to hear other illustrators find it helpful! I guess you have dog walks regularly too? That must keep you moving!

Oh yes, a dog walk in the morning means I’ll have more peace throughout the day! My pack loves to hold me accountable. I just have to tune out their snoring. 😄

That's such a good idea to take a photo of your colours and materials. I'm nicking your system. When I'm up against it with deadlines I find a lunchtime series of exercises really reboots my tired mind, shoulders and numb arse from sitting too long! I agree with you...write how you speak. I enjoyed it. X

Lunchtime exercises is a great idea - I’m nicking that system! xx
