With more facts and less whimsy:

• The biggest colouring pencil in the world can be found at Derwent Pencil Museum, Cumbria, UK. It’s a yellow Derwent pencil, and was made at the Derwent Pencil Factory alongside their ordinary sized pencils. The idea for the pencil came from Barbara Murray, technical manager at the factory.

• The biggest graphite pencil in the world was built by Ashrita Furman and a team of volunteers to celebrate the 76th birthday of Sri Chinmoy. It can be seen today at the City Museum, St Louis, Missouri, US

• The smallest pencil in the world was made by Prakash Chandra Upadhyay It is only 0.5mm wide and very hard to see
