Do you like art and books and making a mess?
Perfect! You’ll be right at home here!
Sketchbooks are a place to see what works, make a mess and try things out, but it’s scary to do that in public.
So this is a Secret Sketchbook.
But because it’s just us, it’s safe to share . . .
So, what’s inside this Secret Sketchbook?
It’s always useful and interesting to find out how other creatives do things so you’ll get to see unpolished sketchbooks, things I’ve learned about drawing, how I handle creative confidence melt downs and generally what goes on behind the pencil.
Who do I think I am anyway?
My name is Nanette and I came to illustration late - but I’m doing my damndest to catch up.
I’ve illustrated 42 children’s books for clients including Ladybird Books, Simon & Schuster and Lantana Publishing, these include early readers, novelty books, board books and picture books. I’m represented by Susan Penny at The Bright Agency.
I’ve also created, pitched and failed to get a deal with my own author illustrator picture books - I’m still working on it!
You can see my illustration portfolio on my website and more of my drawing on my instagram.
Like all sketchbooks this is a work in progress, see-what-happens sort of project so it may well grow and change with time. Let’s see what happens . . .
Keep making that mess!
xx
