5 days away with new things to fill my eyeballs! Yaaaaayyyyy!
Before setting off I curated my materials really carefully, only the very essential things. And . . .
. . . I only used a tiny proportion of those things!
The fude pens are perfect travel buddies. I took two - with different colours in them, intending to use them together. But that never happened. C’est la vie!
But the BIG news here is the TINY pallette - what a revelation! At it’s biggest it’s 6.5cm x 6.5cm.
It is so subtle I can clip it to the top of my sketchbook and paint people enjoying a crêpe. And they won’t even grumpily notice me staring!
I did more subtle drawing in public by gatecrashing a sketch group.
And I saw some really great statues. They never mind when I draw them.
Hope you’ve had a really nice summer too! With some drawing if you fancied it.
Let me know what you’ve been up to! I would love to know!
Ps - the subheading is a joke, not a cry for ego bolstering!
Some of the very best bits about Nantes:
Gâteau Nantais - almond and rum cake that is now one of my top 10 favourite foods.
Musée-atelier de l’imprimerie de Nantes - print museum and working print studio with amazing really old presses and bookbinding tools. They have exhibitions, demonstrations and also offer internships.
Jean Julien - lots of his work is in the park!
love your sketches! Really show that you had fun! And i’m also a fan of the teeny tiny mini clip on paint situations - i’ve repurposed a mini eyeshadow palette and it’s a game changer!
Wow, great sketches! I always dream of a sketching trip, but I end up barely drawing at all! Loved the tiny palette trick, and the wonderful drawings you made.
